Some of FlowolF's finished resin/silver/cast jewellery

Well since I've tumbled around here as a 'non-model-maker' for a few days or so now, figured it was time to post some of what I do make, so here goes ',;~}~

Image

Image

That's a composite/encapsulation of orange/amber died clear epoxy, yellow died clear epoxy, and well I'll leave out the rest - any guesses as to what it is?.. ',;~}~

The surround or frame and findings - Handworked 'worn-thorn' patterned silver girdle and closed jump ring.

Few more to come...

Now this next one should be an easy guess:

That's the PU50 clear cast urethane resin - when I first got it I tried a test batch - threw a load of microwave transformer wire bits (I'd hacked off the secondary winding to make a high current low voltage supply) into a dispenser drinks cup, poured a mix of the PU in, and set it up under pressure.

I was so impressed with how it looked I cut a chunk off and shaped it into a pendant - fine sanding, high polish, and frame it in some of my hand woven/plaited/braided 0.8mm silver wire that I'd gently fed through a roller mill - the resin doesn't have the Shore D hardness level of the epoxy (IIRC it's about 85), but it's actually a little easier to polish ',;~}~

Few More!

OK, I know you didn't ask for more, but I didn't ask you to ask for more, so here goes anyway LOL!

This double sided pendant was a test to see how my new transparent epoxy pigments worked and how hard it was to have diff. shades in the same reservoir without them blending into one. Also to see how this slow set epoxy coped at such shallow 'enamelling' depths - it's supposed to be used at around 20mm thickness at least for proper cure as it's a casting resin - took about double time to set-up, but a good week of post cure and it finished up a treat. - The rest of the double sided pendant is made from a strip of sterling I applied a hammer finish to (with a hammer) to reflect back more light, and surrounded with a frame/girdle to hold the resin pour.

Sorry for the p*ss poor photos - couldn't get the light right that day.

Will post a couple in next post of some 'blanks' if that's ok - they may be my starting materials in some cases, but they're a finished item in their own right!

Ok but first, couldn't neglect this one! - This is lichen, cast in epoxy (cut from a cylinder/block I made), shaped and set in a plain silver frame - gift for my daughter last xmas and it's her doing the modelling of it here ',;~}~

Blank of coloured epoxy and stabilised 'wormy' spalted wood:

Well it seems I lost the other blank photos, so here's some of my rings instead ',;~}~

Big ring is stabilised holly with silver insert, the little one - again I'll invite guesses ',;~}~

Hope you enjoyed - be well folks!

These are really fascinating and beautiful pieces. Thanks for sharing. I have a soft spot for natural textures like this so it wasn't too hard to impress me there, but even the wire one in the clear resin is a striking (and creative) use of materials. I'm not really one for wearing jewelry (being more the practical sort), but that doesn't mean I don't like to look. Fantastic stuff!

While I'm not particularly keen on "earthy" jewellery styles like these, I appreciate the work that goes in to creating such nice finishes ;)
The rings are interesting though!
